What I got here are the Dianthus pinks from my garden. My husband loves them so we grow them. I’m glad they could grow in a steep slope located at our house entrance. Most stores sell them at the annual section, but as I read along a few flower books, there are some types of them that belong to the perennial family.
Dianthus comes from the greek words “dios” meaning “divine” and “anthos” meaning flower. The first batch that my husband planted last year grew double its size this year. I planted the second batch this year and they are the ones that’s mixed colors. Right now, their peak of blooming is coming to an end. But if one is consistent in deadheading the blooms, it will bloom all summer long.
