My mother in law invited me to go to Chattaqua mall in Jamestown, New York yesterday. She said she wanted to buy something special for me though it is quite a late birthday present. It was fun strolling inside the mall as their place is very lively compared to our local mall in Warren, Pennsylvania. They let me wonder around while they stay in one spot because they are elderly and the mall itself is just too big for them to wonder around. My brother in law was with me to help me pick the right kind of winter boots and hold George while I fit the boots. I went to five different shoe shops. I finally found one in Famous footwear. My husband found us and helped me convince myself to choose the right kind of boots that can survive hard winter. He said I should pick boots that has hard grip on the ground, good insulation, can survive below 20 degrees Fahrenheit and waterproof. None of my first pick which are stylish with pom pom balls and lots of faux fur did not convince him, but he still let me choose. Oh what the heck, he knows winter better than I do so I chose the one which I like in moderation and that he approved of its good features. It cost my mother-in-law $51 to buy the thing. I feel a little awkward about it but she said it is the right price of what good winter boots should be.
After living in NYC for two years, I realized that warm waterproof boots are the most important item in my Winter arsenal. I finally found a brand that was both supremely warm and stylish
. If you can find La Canadienne boots in your area or at zappos.com do check them out. I walked through the blizzard of 2010 in them and my feet stayed dry and warm. Kind of miraculous really!
