I like to try something new for Christmas this year. I attended a local class in knitting a Christmas stocking that would last four sessions. I have never knitted such thing before. I have tried knitting two scarves but this one is difficult as I expected. Anyhow, it suits my fascination to knitting art. It challenged me. And here is where I am with my new project. I did what the instructor told us to do. I cast on white yarn of 60 stitches to the round knitting needle. To combine the ends, just simply knit them together. I created 5 rows of knit stitch which resulted into stockinette stitch. Then I combined red yarn to white yarn, a tip to do this is to use a long tail technique, at least 6-8 inches of free yarn as an end or tail, wrap it counter clock wise to the right knitting needle (since I am right handed) and begin knit stitch one row, with knit 2 and purl 2 technique, alternating the two yarn colors. Now, in my case, I forgot to read the instructions carefully, instead of knit stitch one row, I directly applied knit 2 purl 2 in one row first thereby resulting one row of combined two yarns. So I warn you, if you are a beginner in knitting, read the instructions very carefully. So I just continued mine with that first row mistake, Anyway, the top stockinette stitch rolls like a garter and covers the first row line that I had a mistake of. So, when using the knit 2 purl 2 technique, do it after you combined two yarns using knit stitch first before the knit 2 purl 2. And here’s a picture of where I am in my Christmas stocking decoration for George’s gifts.
