Love Home Grow Garden

It has been a long while I have updated my garden flowers archive. I will try to continue writing posts about them and how I planted and took care of it. The flower I am going to show to you today were the blue flag irises that bloomed in my garden in last year’s summer. I asked my mother in law if I can take some roots of her overflowing blue flag irises in her garden. She said ok, they are too crowded anyway so take as many as you can. I did not took a lot since these kind of flowers are perennials and they grow their population every year on the same spot. That was Fall 2009 that I got the roots planted and they grew back and had blooms in Summer 2010. In this year’s Spring, I will cut off the dead stems and rake off the dead leaves. The roots of the blue flag iris is not similar of that rhizome irises. It is a Siberian root type which are thin and lots of roots. I planted it one feet below the surface of the ground. I planted it also at the front yard of our house. So here are some fruits of my gardening success.
